The Wisconsin Histology Society has money for you!! Are you in need of CU credits? Have you ever been to a State Histology meeting? Do you like to travel? Are you or someone in your lab a histology student?

Consider a WHS scholarship! You can use these funds to obtain CU credits; attend a State or National meeting,

or is a student, there is a scholarship for you. Take a look at the 3 scholarships we offer and apply or nominate someone you know in the field.

The application submission deadline is April 1 of each year. All scholarships are awarded at the annual Tri-State Meeting.


WHS Scholarship Criteria


Mission Statement: The purpose of the WHS is to educate and provide information to others, advance the field of Histotechnology, professional growth, and have a forum to share scientific and technical expertise. The awards are open to the membership and recognize commitment to education, hard work and dedication in our field. Scholarships are a part of professional development. The WHS awards committee consists of the vice president as chairperson, the immediate past vice president, with other current members as recruited.


General Nomination Policy: Nominations for an award should be made to the chairperson of the Awards Committee in triplicate. Nominations should be accompanied by a statement from the nominee or nominator with other supporting material, such as letters of recommendation from pathologist, supervisor, WHS officers or chairperson and members of WHS. The Award Committee reserves the right not to make an award in any given year. The committee also reserves the right to give more than one award in any category or give an established award (that has not been applied for) to a working professional.

Wayne Kampa Continuing Education Award


$400 cash award


 Member of WHS, in good standing for two years

 submit an updated curriculum vitae, two letters of recommendation, and a description of how you will use this award to continue your education

 Recipient is required to submit a short paper on a subject related to their field of study for publication in the In Focus with-in six months of completing their education goal.


WHS Member of the Year Award


$100 cash award, WHS dues for 1 year


 In recognition of a WHS member who has contributed significantly to WHS and the field of histology and, who, by out-standing example has inspired others.

 Nominee must be a current WHS member of good standing for two years

 Nomination must include an essay of not more than 500 words in support of the merits of the nominee.


Joan Junk Student Scholarship


$350 cash award


 Current student member or a member in good standing for two years enrolled in a documented histology training program or academic accredited program

 ideally enrolled in an accredited histology training program/ academic credit program. This scholarship may be awarded to a working professional.

 Submit an application, reference letters and a short scientific paper exploring an aspect of histology, publication ready for WHS newsletter.
