Hello fellow Histotechs,

Thank you for taking the time out of your busy day to check out our WHS website. As stated above I am the webmaster Andy Fortune, although I really have nothing about the web mastered......I am currently a histotech at Meriter Laboratories in Madison, WI.  I have worked there for just over three years now.  Before I moved to Madison I attained my Associates degree in Histology at Argosy University Eagan, MN.  I then went on to work for the University of Minnesota, Fairview for about five years.  While I enjoyed working in Minneapolis ( not the traffic) I wanted to make a big change so I looked for jobs closer to my hometown of Byron, IL.  As luck would have it I found a job at Dean Clinic Madison, WI as a Moh's tech.  This was only a part time gig so I continued to look for a full time job.  Months later a position opened at Meriter and I've been there since.  Hobbies of mine include: hunting, camping, kayaking, and pretty much anything outdoors.  I have three pets, a bearded dragon, gecko, and a dog named Lola.

Here we go.
"I graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 2005 with a Bachelor's degree in Biology.  From there I started my histology career at UW Hospital in the general histology lab, and eventually ran the Renal Pathology laboratory.  After eight-plus years in an academic setting, I choose a new career path. I now work at Advanced Dermatology, as the Lab Manager and the Office compliance manager.  My interests in histology include sub-specialty lab techniques, including transplant renal pathology and Mohs surgery, as well as quality assurance measures.  My time working with the Wisconsin Histology Society has provided not only useful professional lessons and business connections, but also many friendships and enjoyable experiences."
